Commonwealth programme of Royal Visit to Australia, 1954
Programmes, guides, journals and one map relating to the Royal Visits to Jamaica, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Ceylon, Aden, Uganda, Malta and Gibraltar. There is also a report of Barclays Bank D.C.O. Much of the material relates to the tour of Australia.
Commonwealth Review Group and Victoria League, 1981 - 1985
This file contains official reports, notes and correspondence relating to Smedley’s work with the Commonwealth Review Group during 1981-82. It also includes the transcript of a seminar run by the Victoria League 'The Commonwealth Traveller in Britain', 2 July, 1984, and a report of Smedley's visit to its triennial conferences in Australia and New Zealand in September and October, 1985 (circa 150 sheets).
Commonwealth Royal Tour, 1953-1954
The principal part of the collection is a set of programmes and guides prepared for the different legs of the Royal Tour. These are supplemented by related correspondence and papers compiled by the Royal Empire Society and others. The collection is in English with the exception of one item in English and Arabic.

Convict transportation documents, 1839 - 1843
One letter and seven official printed forms, completed in manuscript, relating to three voyages of convicts to Australia: the 'Barrossa' to New South Wales and the 'Margaret' and 'Lord Petre' to Van Diemen's Land. The papers are accompanied by 'Royal Commonwealth Society library notes', no. 39, March 1960, which discusses the collection, and a typescript list of seven of the items.
