Collection of sepia studio portraits of the Australian Board of Directors. With the exception of number 1, all measure 145 x 200 mm. The photographs were originally mounted in a frame.

The BAWRA was founded in 1920 by Sir John Higgins to safeguard the national wool trade, and, in association with a temporary London directorate, to realise the wool carried over from the war period. It went into liquidation in 1927.

Scope and Contents A commercially produced album containing mounted photographs, measuring approximately 280 x 225 mm, and four pages of explanatory text, commemorating the fire which destroyed the exhibition hall on 22nd September 1882. The album consists of one photograph of the undamaged building and 16 of various parts of the ruins. It was Bongard, a mate of the earlier mission ship, also named ‘Southern Cross’, who found Bishop John Patteson’s corpse in a canoe anchored off Nukapu, ‘Wrapped in a mat, with a palm branch on it, the fronds being tied into five knots’, p. 156.
