Slides have been renumbered but arrangement in the file remains as per the original typescript...

266 x 181 mm. A good view of a sugar estate at an unidentified location. In the fore- and middle-ground are factory and processing buildings with estate workers' huts lining the track beyond and a patchwork of cultivated fields, some partially harvested, on the hills behind.

West Indian Troops, 1880 - 1889

234 x 174 mm. A view showing a number of troops standing to attention on a parade ground. There are seven Europeans dressed in officers’ uniforms at the front of the contingent, five standing to attention with swords and two on horseback. To one side of the main body of soldiers is a small group, in very similar uniform, with musical instruments. The uniform appears identical to that worn by the band members pictured in Y307A/2.
