The typescript caption attached to the reverse of the print continues: 'All hands are busy when the starting gun sounds for events in the Out Island Regatta. In a marine version of sports car racing's 'Le Mans' start, boats are anchored with sails down. Then there's a mad rush to up anchor and hoist sail at the same moment. Here the dingy classes get underway, with varying degrees of success. The event was held at George Town, Exuma, April 11-13. ...

Scope and Contents From the Fonds: Arthur was an efficient administrator and kept copies of virtually every official letter he wrote during his tenure as Superintendent and Commandant. These include dispatches to Bathurst on colonial affairs and to the Commander-in-Chief, Jamaica, regarding military administration. Letters to neighbouring Spanish colonies reflect his diplomatic responsibilities. Part of the collection relates to Bradley’s dispute with Arthur, which went before Parliament in 1837. Scope and Contents This porcelain statue bears the tag, ‘Found in ruins of St. Pierre, miraculously preserved 1902’. It was recovered from the ruins of St. Pierre, Martinique, in June 1902, by Sir Hesketh Bell, Administrator of Dominica, who visited immediately after the eruption of Mt. Pelée, ‘To our intense surprise, we found that this image was almost entirely undamaged, the hands and feet only having been broken off. This was a really an amazing thing, as it lay almost completely covered by big stones and...
