Barbados, 1880 - 1889
232 x 179 mm. A view looking over a town square, with a fountain at its centre, towards a dock area. A number of masts of sailing ships are clearly visible as are various horse-drawn carriages and carts. A small crane can also be seen by the dock area indicating this was a trading port. Location unknown although most likely Bridgetown or Speightstown. Photograph by Cooper and Company (stamped in the bottom right-hand corner).

Barbados West Indian Band, 1880 - 1889
215 x 133 mm. A posed shot of a 33-piece band together with their instruments. All are wearing military uniform and one man, in what resembles an officer’s uniform, is seated on a chair (others either standing or seated on the ground). He appears to be holding a stick possibly a conductor’s baton. The uniform appears identical to that worn by some of the troops pictured in Y307A/7.
