It depicts the tea clipper ‘The Tweed’ about to sail from Colombo Harbour on 8 April 1888, where she had called during her voyage from China to New York. 'The Vale of Kashmir seen under a cloud'

A narrative by 'Colonel Jones' and 'Major Robinson' of their hunting expedition in Kashmir, 48 pages, followed by 'Six weeks in a French vicarage by Hubert Richard Lovett', 19 pages. There are ten photographs inserted in the first narrative of members of the party and of the places they visited, which included Srinagar.

Scope and Contents Manuscript narrative of a two-month hunting expedition in June-July 1875 undertaken by three army officers 'under a cloud' as they travelled without official passes of the Kashmir Government, hence the pseudonyms of 'Colonel Jones' and 'Major Robinson'. The third, 'General Brown' did not complete the journey. 'Major Robinson' was Hubert Richard Lovett (1854-1908), then a Lieutenant in the 60th Rifles. An album, labelled on the spine, containing prints of various sizes. The numbering is sequenced from 1 to 131, but 101 is omitted. 14 of these prints are loose (118-131) , and are kept in a separate envelope in the album. Some of the prints are good quality professional work. Some of the photographs are captioned in ink; in other cases the titles have been derived from duplicate copies in Davies' other Indian album or from other photographs of the same scenes.
