210 x 150 mm. No European is allowed [to] own property on Kashmir soil, hence the houseboat for residents and visitors in the season. These houseboats are tiled with wood and the windows are screened with wire netting to keep out mosquitoes.

The rock has a temple and a fort at its summit, built by a Madura prince between 1660 and 1670. The capital of successive Tamil kingdoms between the 10th and 17th centuries and located 180 miles SW of Madras, Trichinopoly was ceded to the British by the Nawab of Arcot in 1801. Bourne no. 2054.

Some of the prints are good quality professional work. Some of the photographs are captioned in ink; in other cases the titles have been derived from duplicate copies in Davies' other Indian album or from other photographs of the same scenes.
