This is an account of events in Singapore from 8 Dec. 1941 until its surrender, based upon notes originally recorded in Ross's diary. It was written in June 1942 aboard a Dutch cargo vessel travelling to New York (138 pages).

Scope and Contents 271 x 207 mm. View looking NE from Mount Palmer along the waterfront of Telok Ayer towards the centre of the town, with shipping anchored in the roadstead to the right. Johnston's Pier (see BAM 10/39) can be just made out in the distance. The photograph is particularly interesting in that it shows land reclamation work in progress at Talok Ayer in the foreground. This reclamation was approved by the Secretary of State in 1879 and the work completed eight years later. Photographer unknown,...

Singapore Mutiny, 15th February 1915, 1961

Copies of a letter written by Kemp describing his role in suppressing the mutiny and the draft of an official report, accompanied by correspondence with Hugh Bryson. Kemp was given the task of creating a narrative of events for the War Office and the draft report collates private and official sources available at the time (60 sheets).
