Busk's hand adds: 'Don't remember this: think it Simon's Town [i.e. Simonstad]'. This appears to be correct and the headland is similar to those north of the town.

HMS Powerful, a twin funnelled cruiser, lies at anchor in the centre of the shipping. The date of Powerful's visit to Simon's Town has not been established but this photograph was possibly taken during the Boer War: if so, the large ship at anchor at the right is possibly one of the vessels used for a time as a Boer prisoner of war rest camp.

Hence the name Sinqu has been given to the pass. The above photograph is taken facing Natal.'
