272 x 207 mm. Showing a large crowd of gaily dressed Swahili men and women gathered in the Mnazi Mmoja Recreation Park, Zanzibar, to celebrate the festival of Siku Kuu. The caption 'Sicucu natives feast' is written on the print itself, and is numbered '18'.

The collection contains a variety of photographs, some of them taken by the Information Services of the Gold Coast/Ghana, while others are amateur photographs. Nos 1-5, showing Fraser in the Principal's house are clearly pre-1935, when he left Achimota. The majority date from Mr Winlaw's Headship and include a number of views of buildings put up in that period, particularly the Assembly Hall...

Sierra Leone 1938: a geographer's journey

A description of Robert Steel's five months in Sierra Leone based on his notes, diaries and letters to his fiancée, 93 pages. The work was begun by Steel in the time leading up to his death, and completed and edited by his son-in-law, Colin Johnson. There is an accompanying letter from Eileen Steel to the R.C.S. Librarian, 8 January 2000.
