Scope and Contents 156 x 113 mm. Showing the three dead elephants lying in a clearing of trampled grass with the gun bearers Ramazan and Sudi standing beside the animals holding elephant guns. The elephants were shot on the 26th and photographed on the 27th: ‘J and I saw 5 elephants standing in some v. tall grass, 30 more having left and got clean away… finally we bagged the 3, which was not bad out of 5… Started about 8 am with the Dr, who wanted to see the beast we shot yesterday. Got there after a hot walk...

'Eleven exciting years': typescript on the Cameroons

Letters from Elizabeth O'Kelly in the Cameroons (224 pages), itinerary and diary notes (18 pages) and 23 black and white photographs. The document is a photocopy of the original 1965 typescript. Part one covers Buea, 1950-1952; part two covers Nsaw, Barenda Province, 1952-1961. There are accompanying notes, supplied by Miss O'Kelly, describing her career, assignments as a freelance consultant and publications.

The caption on the reverse reads: 'Elmina Castle, Gold Coast. Elmina Castle is the finest and one of the most romantic forts on the Gold Coast. Built originally with materials brought from Europe in 1482 by Diego d'Azambuja, it was held in turn by the Portuguese and Dutch being finally transferred to the British in 1872'.

'Boadicea' lying beyond the bar. The photographers signature 'Kisch' is stamped on the reverse, but shows through the print.
