155 x 112 mm. Showing Gedge’s tent pitched in a clearing beneath tall euphorbias, with an African servant standing at the entrance. Gedge does not specifically mention the taking of this photograph, but in his diary for the 24th records ‘went up a hill here and took a couple of photos’.

157 x 111 mm. This is probably the photograph mentioned by Gedge in his diary. The picture is certainly not up to Gedge’s usual standard. Gedge had arrived in Mengo on December 22nd 1890 and stayed until January 14th 1891.
