Daily tabulated logs of the voyage. Gooch has recorded entries for 30 November to 23 December 1791 twice; the second set of entries are more detailed and run to 27 February 1792.
The journal also includes additional pages of rough calculations.
Astronomical observations made at different places on shore, 1794-10-04 - 1797-04-08
Includes observations made at: Drake’s Island, Plymouth Sound; the island of Enchados in the harbour of Rio de Janeiro; Port Stephens, New South Wales; Sydney Cove, Port Jackson, New South Wales; Karakakoa Bay on the island of O’Whyee; the Spanish settlement of Monterrey on the coast of California; Volcano Bay, island of Insu; and near Rocky Head, Typa.
Astronomical observations made at Rio de Janeiro, 1791-11-10 - 1791-11-22
Tabulated logs of observations, with related remarks. These include observations of equal altitudes; transits of the sun, moon and stars over the meridian; observations on the dip of the magnetic needle; comparisons of Mr Arnold’s watches Nos. 14 and 176 with the clock; comparisons of Mr Earnshaw's watch with the clock; and observations on the tides.
Astronomical observations made between Rio [de] Janeiro and Port Stephens, New South Wales, 1795-05-25 - 1795-08-18
Observations made on board the ship while at sea.
Astronomical observations made between St Helen’s and Rio [de] Janeiro, 1794-10-09 - 1795-05-03
The observations begin with a note on receiving the four timekeepers from William Wales, and on their rate. Included are observations taken at St Helens; at Drake’s Island, Plymouth Sound; at Torbay and Cawsand Bay; at Sancta Cruz Bay in Tenerife; and observation taken on board the ship while at sea.
Astronomical observations made in the harbour of Rio [de] Janeiro, 1795-05-09 - 1795-05-22
The observations begin with a note on taking the instruments on shore on the small island of Enchados.
Computations from observations made at Rio de Janeiro, 1791-11
Includes computations of the rates of watches by Arnold and Earnshaw [RGO 14/62: 158r-180r], computations of the latitude and longitude of Rio de Janeiro [RGO 14/62: 181r-196v], tables of the rates of the daily rates of the timekeepers and pocket watches [RGO 14/62: 197], and various mathematical calculations and charts.

Letter from José Victorino dos Santos e Souza Mattos, 1827-09-20
Letter and proposal.
Letter from José Victorino dos Santos e Souza Mattos, 1827-07-04
Informing the Board of Longitude that he had sent a printed copy (in Portuguese) of his 'theory of the universe founded on the fluctuation of the satellites and the anti-gravitation of the sun'. He also mentions that as a Portuguese national he had studied astronomy in Europe, and laments the difficulty of pursuing it in Brazil.
Letter from José Victorino dos Santos e Souza Mattos, 1827-08-18
Originally enclosing further sections of his work for the consideration of the Board of Longitude.

With an index of names.
Letter from William Dawes to Nevil Maskelyne, 1787-08-06
Reporting on their progress (the ship had arrived at Rio de Janeiro) and on observations made en route. Dawes also mentions that his cabin was partially under water and that his Requisite Tables had been damaged and needed replacing.
Letter from William Dawes to Nevil Maskelyne, 1787-09-03
Reporting on observations made at the Island of Enxadas, Rio de Janeiro. The letter includes mention of a visit by two astronomers from Portugal employed to settle the limits between the Spanish and Portuguese settlements in Brazil.
Note concerning William Dawes' manuscripts of astronomical observations made at Port Jackson and Rio de Janeiro, 1798
