Printed copies of letters from LSA to 2nd Lord Linlithgow [earlier Lord Hopetoun] on subjects including: negotiations with Mahomed Jinnah [Leader of the Muslim League], Mohandas Gandhi, Sir Tej Bahadur Sapru and the Indian Congress; the war situation; Sir Alexander Roger and his Ministry of Supply mission to India; inventions by Chaim Weizmann in yeast and molasses-based food and fuel production; the Indian Seamen's Union; Pakistan; the enlargement of Linlithgow's Council, particularly bringing more Indians into the Executive and Advisory Councils; the dispatch of a force from India to Basra [Iraq]; a draft Indian constitution; India's contribution to war expenditure; aircraft production; the change-over from General Sir Claude Auchinleck to General Sir Archibald Wavell as Commander-in-Chief, India; an adult literacy campaign; LSA's difficulties with Winston Churchill [Prime Minister] over Indian policy.
