Letters from Sir John Herbert [Governor, 1939-43] then Richard Casey [Governor, 1944-46] to LSA on subjects including: Abul Huq, Chief Minister of Bengal [parts of Bangladesh and India] and the possibility of civil disobedience; Casey's health; administrative reform and Casey's ministers; the rice supply; the need for a new housing construction programme; forming a Governor's Defence Committee; the Bengal Secondary Education Bill; Casey's general impressions of Bengal; the water system; Pakistan and the all-India controversy; the murder of 1st Lord Moyne [earlier Walter Guinness] by Jewish extremists; public transport.
