Also includes copies of letters from LSA to: Jan Smuts [Prime Minister of South Africa] on the outbreak of war; Sir Samuel Hoare [Lord Privy Seal, later 1st Lord Templewood] on the structure of a War Cabinet and war organization in general; Winston Churchill on his becoming First Lord of the Admiralty, LSA offering his own services, inter-Allied co-operation with the French and the possible threat from the Soviet Union.
Also includes: memorandum by LSA on the case for a War Cabinet; notes by LSA on foreign affairs, August 1939 to May 1940.
