Scope and Contents

Correspondence, mainly with Sir Robert Perks, Chairman of the Montreal, Ottawa and Georgian Bay Canal (British Claims) Trust Limited, on the case for compensation put forward by the trust against the Canadian Government, following the forfeiture of the trust's charter to construct the Montreal, Ottawa and Georgian Bay Canal. Other correspondents include: [William] Mackenzie King, Prime Minister of Canada (4); Frederick Goodenough; 1st Lord Willingdon [Governor-General of Canada, earlier Freeman Freeman-Thomas] (2); Richard Bennett, Leader of the Opposition and later Prime Minister of Canada (13); V Irving Smart, Deputy Minister of Railways and Canals, Canada.
