Scope and Contents
Working papers on the Labour Party, covering subjects such as news coverage of the 1945 General Election; electioneering and local and national political campaigns; and analysis of election results. Consists largely of press cuttings, articles, and survey data, with Mark Abrams's reading notes and his own notes on subjects including British capitalism; social class, floating voters, and voting behaviour; personalities in British politics; and the potential impact of market research on the Labour Party's activities. Includes copies of Abrams's papers "Background to the British Elections" (1945), "Social Class and British Politics" (1961), "Social Class and Political Values" (1963), "Public Opinion Polls and Political Parties" (1963), and "Social Class and Politics" (1965). Also includes copy of 'Let Us Face the Future' (1945) [Labour's 1945 General Election manifesto].
