Correspondents include: 12th Lord Lothian, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office [earlier Peter Kerr] on the banning of weapons which would endanger civilians; Seán MacBride [President of the International Peace Bureau] enclosing a report by the Bureau on the outlawing of biological, chemical and nuclear weapons; Steven Rose, Department of Biochemistry, Imperial College, London, on the use of CS gas [tear gas] and defoliants and East German allegations about the preparation of chemical weapons in West Germany (2); [Anthony] Tony Benn, enclosing a letter from Denis Healey, Secretary of State for Defence, on organo-phosphorus nerve agents; William Wilson; Lord Shackleton, Leader of the House of Lords, on the use of CS gas.
