Notes, correspondence and source material on subjects including: treating crimes against Hungarian Jews, including deportation, as war crimes, 1944; HL's contribution to the law of war crimes; HL's graduation from the University of Lvov and family background in Ukraine; Raphael Lemkin; HL's (transcribed) draft of the opening speech by the Attorney-General [Sir Hartley Shawcross] at Nuremberg [see also LAUT 4/36-37]; human rights; the Holocaust at Nuremberg.
Includes some original material: a letter from a Dr Norbert Neuwald, Lvov [Lviv and Lemberg, Poland, later Ukraine], congratulating HL on the Whewell Professorship and thanking him for taking care of his son, 1937; a draft memorandum from HL to Sir Hartley Shawcross [Attorney-General] on the legal status of the Korean War, 1950 [see also LAUT 1/67].
