Biographical papers, 1921 - 2015
Scope and Contents
Research notes, correspondence, papers and copies assembled by Sir Elihu Lauterpacht, initially for his 5 volume edition of HL's Collected Papers, 1970-2004, but mainly for his biography of HL, "The Life of Hersch Lauterpacht", 2010. Includes a few originals which Elihu had taken out of the main sequence of HL's own papers to work on and could not easily be replaced, particularly HL's memorandum on the draft Peace Act, 1934 (LAUT 7/32), the Nuremberg Indictment (LAUT 7/28), the draft Declaration of Independence for Israel, 1948 (LAUT 7/30) and the draft memorandum on the legal status of the Korean War, 1950 (LAUT 7/42).
