Field notes: miscellaneous notes on loose sheets, 1972
Scope and Contents
101 leaves, many of which appear to have come from two 'Letter Pads' - that is, pads of airmail paper commercially produced in China, 9.75 in. x 7 in., ruled blind. The leaves have been left in the groups in which they were found and ordered thus:
[1-15] Autograph manuscript notes headed 'May 21 1972. LIAONING. Shenyang. Provincial Committee and Municipal Committee.' The pages have been numbered 1-15 by Joan Robinson.
[16-26] Autograph manuscript notes headed 'Anshan', on an Iron and Steel Complex. The pages have been numbered 16-26 by Joan Robinson.
[27-29] Autograph manuscript notes, found loose, unnumbered by Joan Robinson. Probably belong elsewhere among these pages.
[30-52] Autograph manuscript notes headed 'Shanghai', 22 leaves numbered 1-17 by Joan Robinson (the rest unnumbered), preceded by 1 leaf of notes in another hand headed 'Shanghai Revolutionary Committee'.
[53-64] Autograph manuscript notes, possibly a draft of a talk or article on China.
[65] Empty Letter Pad.
[66-81] Another Letter Pad, containing 15 blank sheets (5 of them still adhering to the pad).
[82-89] Autograph manuscript notes headed 'Yingkou County', partially numbered (1-3) by Joan Robinson. Fol. 82 not on Letter Pad paper.
[90-93] Autograph manuscript notes headed 'Kwantung Province' on Chinese paper ruled and decorated in red; from a pad, the leaves being still fastened at the head with gum.
[94-101] Notes in Joan Robinson's and other hands, some relating to a women's co-operative metal works.
