This manuscript is housed in two ringbinders. These also contain two letters from David Waters, Deputy Director of the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich. The letters show that the manuscript was sent to him 'for study and correction' and only returned to Joseph Needham in 1973. The text has very few annotations, but there several pages of notes in Waters' hand
