Material on acupuncture and moxibustion was collected for 'Section 44' of 'Science and Civilisation in China' and was to form part of 'Volume 6'. However, Joseph Needham and Lu Gwei-Djen decided to publish the material as a separate monograph. 'Celestial Lancets: History and Rationale of Acupuncture and Moxibustion' was published by Cambridge University Press in 1980.
