The documents were collected for a Joseph Needham paper entitled 'China and the Origins of Immunology', (Centre of Asian Studies, University of Hong Kong, 1980). It was read as the first S. T. Huang-Chan Memorial Lecture in Hong Kong, 1980. An abridged version was published in 'Eastern Horizon', 1 January 1980.
