How to defend against American imperialist bacteriological warfare 怎樣防禦美帝國主義的細菌戰, 1952-05
Scope and Contents
The poster consists of 10 frames with captions, which read:
(1) American imperialism's distribution of bacteriological insects and poisons in Korea and Manchuria seeks to produce disease and kill peaceful residents. We must organise ourselves to study about disease prevention and prevent American imperialists’ biological warfare.
(2) When you see the enemy dropping insects and other dangerous items from airplanes, report it immediately to health or disease prevention authorities.
(3) Before going after harmful insects and animals: everyone should tightly bind their cuffs and trouser-legs, wear socks and shoes, wear masks, wrap your head in cloth, and further, wear gloves. You must pay attention to protecting yourself, to not give the germs an opportunity to invade the body.
(4) Regarding rats and frogs dropped by the enemy, they should be killed with shovels and then burned or buried.
(5) Regarding fleas, flies, mosquitoes, crickets, spiders, sandflies and other poisonous insects dropped by enemy planes, use DDT or soapy water mixed with kerosene to kill them; flyswatters, nets, torches, boiling water, etc could be used to capture and kill them; collect them up and burn or bury them.
(6) As for the poisonous scraps of torn cloth, leaves, feathers, items for daily use and food items dropped by enemy planes, sweep them up into a pile, burn them with dry grass, and bury the remains.
(7) After doing this work, you must wash your clothes, shoes, socks, gloves, headscarves, turbans, masks, etc in boiling water; everyone should take a shower and change clothes; any tools used to exterminate poisonous insects or substances should be disinfected via soaking in lime water or bleach.
(8) Immediately post signs, urgently close off to the public, discontinue communications to, and prohibit anyone from entering any areas where poisonous things have been dropped by enemy planes, so as to avoid spreading epidemic disease.
(9) Send for a doctor at once for anyone discovered to be sick. If it is an infectious disease, it should be immediately reported to the disease prevention authorities.
(10) Anyone who is ill with an infectious disease should be isolated immediately and brought to a place designated by a hospital for infectious diseases or other disease prevention organisation, where quarantine and treatment can be carried out, so as to avoid spreading the infection to other people.
Left hand slogan reads: Thoroughly defeat American imperialist bacteriological warfare 徹底打敗美帝國主義的細菌戰.
Right hand slogan reads: Everyone participate in the Patriotic Epidemic Prevention Health Campaign 人人都來參加愛國防疫衛生運動.
