Scope and Contents

The poster consists of 2 sections with multiple frames in each with detailed captions. The left hand frame describes the life-cycle of flies, how they breed and cause illness. The right hand frame, titled ‘To prevent disease, you must exterminate flies early 要防病, 早滅蠅’, depicts practices to prevent their breeding, protect food, and eliminate them by swatting and the use of products such as DTT or 666, or chuchongju 除蟲菊 (Tanacetum cinerariifolium, a natural source of the insecticide pyrethrum).

Left hand slogan reads: Thoroughly defeat American imperialist bacteriological warfare 徹底打敗美帝國主義的細菌戰

Right hand slogan reads: Everyone participate in the Patriotic Epidemic Prevention Health Campaign 人人都來參加愛國防疫衛生運動.
