Scope and Contents

General. This file contains some WINGS documents, together with background literature on careers for women in engineering, including the following:
Edition 7 of a Suffolk Education Department publication entitled ‘The Western Front’ which includes an article entitled ‘Science and Engineering - A Woman’s Career?’ by Dr Sue Elliott;
‘Women in Research in GEC’, glossy illustrated brochure [circa 1984];
Institution of Electrical and Electronics Incorporated Engineers press release entitled ‘Three WISE Girls - Engineering our Future’, concerning a film produced to encourage girls into electrical and electronic engineering, 23 October 1984, also promotional leaflet re same film made for WISE ’84 [Women into Science and Engineering Year - see also NHPP 1/13/3/1];
Equal Opportunities Commission leaflet re ‘Engineering for Girls’, 1984;
WINGS annual report for the academic year 1985/86, listing careers events for girls held at the Cambridge Women’s Resource Centre;
Copy of an order for EITB (Engineering Industry Training Board) publications ‘for our future WINGS career conventions’ sent by Liz Acton to EITB Publications 7.1.87. (addressed from WINGS c/o 13/14 Round Church Street, Cambridge);
WINGS mailing list as at 13 January 1985 and leaflet outlining ‘Our First Careers Event’ [1985].
