Moore followed his two older brothers to Dulwich College, as a day boy, early in 1882, and remained until 1892. He progressed quickly up the school, entering the Classical Sixth Form just before his 15th birthday. In his `Autobiography' he writes appreciatively of the teaching he received at Dulwich and of the influence on him of several of the masters, notably W.T. Lendrum and the Headmaster A.H. Gilkes.
