Arrangement
Moore's personal papers remained at his home in Cambridge, and were used extensively by Paul Levy for his book Moore: G.E. Moore and the Cambridge Apostles (1979). Levy and his assistants did a substantial amount of sorting and indexing of the papers, and their card index and computer printouts remain with the collection.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
After Dorothy Moore's death in 1977 the papers were sold at Sotheby's, and were purchased by the University Library in 1980. See Sotheby's catalogue: The Papers of G.E. Moore O.M. (17 December 1979). They were given the classmark Add. 8330. A few items were presented in 1988 by Roberta Blanshard, the widow of the philosopher Brand Blanshard, and in 1988-9 by the philosopher Alice Ambrose Lazerowitz, a former student of Moore's. They were included in Add. 8330.
