Scope and Contents
The papers here relate to Mary Anne Schimmelpennick's marriage settlement and subsequent dispute with the Galton family. There are two notes ascribed to 'Aunt Sophia', presumably Emma Sophia Galton. Mary Anne Galton was the aunt of Francis Galton; her elder brother Samuel Tertius Galton married Violetta, daughter of Erasmus Darwin.
