Down House manuscripts: Darwin biographical material and correspondence
Scope and Contents
This class comprises assorted biographical material relating to Charles Darwin and his wider family including: material relating to the poetry of Erasmus Darwin; the marriage of Mary Anne Galton; Charles Darwin's funeral; Darwin family accounts; printed articles and newspaper cuttings on Charles Darwin; material relating to the Darwin centenary and the Darwin memorial statute at the British Museum; notes on Darwin family genealogy. There are also some copies of correspondence between Charles Darwin and his contemporaries with whom he collaborated or co-authored papers. Parts 1, 16-17, 24 and 26 are unassigned.
