Down House manuscripts
Scope and Contents
The Down House manuscripts comprise further correspondence of Charles Darwin with his close friends and contemporary scientists, and assorted biographical material relating to Darwin and his wider family, in particular papers of the Galton family (half-cousins of Charles Darwin who shared a common grandfather in Erasmus Darwin).

The Down House manuscripts (DAR 261-265, and DAR 223) were deposited from Down House on loan at Cambridge University Library in October 1995 by English Heritage.
