Copies of semi-official correspondence between Jardine, Matheson & Co. (Caribbean) Ltd, Port of Spain, Trinidad, and Matheson & Co. Ltd, London, with related documents:

1. Letters nos 1-88 from G.J. Carey, Port of Spain, to H.D.M. Barton and (mainly) W.J. Keswick, London, 7 January-10 December 1956. There are also related documents, including press cuttings and a copy of an article from the 'Barbados Advocate' of 18 November 1956 on the West Indies shipping service, accompanied by a letter from G.J.P. Carey sent in response, 24 November 1956.

There are also related documents, including particulars of the French ship 'Lamartine', enclosed with letter no. 120 of 26 March 1956; particulars of the French ship 'Ville de Haiphong', enclosed with letter no. 125 of 10 April 1956; the draft report of the Directors of the West Indies Navigation Co.
