Scope and Contents
Miscellaneous personal correspondence (including a few telegrams) of Robin Gordon while on leave, 1 February-22 June 1946. The correspondents include I.C. Fuzzey Ltd, Guernsey, H. Sharpe Gordon, Yateley (Gordon's father), Hongkong & Shanghai Banking Corporation Ltd, London, T.E. McCathie, Bucktrout & Co. Ltd, Guernsey, and A.W. Robson, Jardine Matheson, Shanghai. Some of Gordon's correspondence is addressed c/o Matheson & Co. Ltd.
There are also copies of related correspondence between other correspondents, including R.C.H. Cassels, Blake, Anglin, Osler & Cassels, Toronto; Dr H.W. Gordon; Stewart Gordon, London; Advocate W.H. Langlois, Guernsey; Matheson & Co Ltd, London; and E.H. Wishart, Bonar, Hunter & Johnstone, W.S., Edinburgh, and related letters and papers, including a list of goods stored on behalf of Stewart Gordon of Guernsey, 24 October 1941, and copies of Stewart Gordon's last will and testament, 1943.
Most of the file is concerned with family matters, including issues arising from the settlement of the estate of the late Stewart Gordon on his nephews Hugh Walker Gordon M.D. and Robert Gordon. A few items are in French. The folder is labelled 'R. Gordon [while on Leave Dec., 1945 to 24/6/46]'.
