Scope and Contents
Correspondence of B.D.F. Beith, Matheson & Co. Ltd, London, with W.J. Keswick, London, while the latter was engaged on war service. There are copies of letters from Beith to Keswick, and some originals and copies of letters from Keswick to Beith. There are also some related letters and papers, including a table of Matheson & Co. Ltd's revenue from East Africa for 1942; a memorandum on 'Government-built tonnage & War risk values', enclosed with a letter from Beith to Keswick of 17 June 1942; a memorandum on British interests in post-war China, 25 September 1942; and 'Notes on reorganisation of the capital of the Indo-China S.N.Co. Ltd', 15 February 1944. The subjects covered in the file include the China Navigation Co., W.S. Dupree, East Africa, Ewo Cotton Mills, Hong Kong internees, Indo-China Steam Navigation Co. Ltd, repatriation from China and tea. The ring-binder is labelled 'Correspondence between B.D.F. Beith and W.J. Keswick'.
