Scope and Contents
Miscellaneous business correspondence between Matheson & Co. Ltd and D.G.M. Bernard during the latter's secondment to the Bank of England. There are copies of letters from B.D.F. Beith, J.F. Owen and J.J. Paterson of Matheson & Co. Ltd to Bernard, and copies and originals of letters from Bernard to Matheson & Co. Ltd, with some related letters and papers. The subjects covered include Chambers Wharf; East Africa; Ch. Goldrei, Foucard & Son; Indo-China Steam Navigation Co. Ltd; Jardine, Matheson & Co.'s Preference Shares; Jardine, Matheson & Co.'s Provident Fund; Ross Estate; and C.T. Tod. The ring-binder is labelled 'Correspondence with D.G.M. Bernard'.
