Scope and Contents
Copies of correspondence and other papers regarding shipping in Borneo, particularly the operations of the Indo-China Steam Navigation Co. Ltd. The file contains correspondence (including telegrams) between Matheson & Co. Ltd, London, Jardine Matheson, Hong Kong, Jardine Matheson, Tokyo, and Henry Waugh & Co. Ltd/Henry Waugh Ltd/Jardine Waugh Ltd, Singapore; letters from Jardine Waugh (B) Ltd, Brunei Town and Kuching, to Henry Waugh & Co. Ltd and its successors, including monthly reports containing local shipping news; and related letters and papers, including a report on a visit to North Borneo ports by G.J.P. Carey of Jardine, Matheson & Co. Ltd, August 1959, dated Hong Kong, 1 September 1959, including an itinerary and a list of the people met during the visit, and the report of the Chairman of the North Borneo Chamber of Commerce for 1960. Some of the material concerns the lumber and timber trade. The ring-binder is labelled on the spine 'Shipping - Borneo' and numbered 1.
