Correspondence re pictures, 1946-2001
Scope and Contents
An incomplete series of correspondence and related papers regarding pictures owned by Jardine, Matheson & Co. Ltd and members of its staff or otherwise of interest to the company. Many of the papers concerns the acquisition of pictures or the use of the artwork belonging to the firm in publications, exhibitions or other forms. There is also a focus on the works of George Chinnery, who had painted both James Matheson and William Jardine. The correspondence is comprised of originals and copies of letters to Matheson & Co. Ltd and copies of other letters. Files Nos V-VIII have not received.
