Correspondence and related papers regarding an enquiry launched by Matheson & Co. Ltd into the Lombard Insurance Co. Ltd and its subsidiary the Hongkong Fire Insurance Co. Ltd, prompted by the poor results of the Lombard Insurance Co. Ltd. The file contains copies of correspondence (including telegrams) between Matheson & Co. Ltd, London, and Jardine Matheson, Hong Kong (mainly), and the Alliance Assurance Co. Ltd, London, and one letter from H. Flint, Matheson & Co.
