Scope and Contents

Correspondence (including telegrams) between Matheson & Co. Ltd, London, and Jardine Matheson, Hong Kong (mainly), Hongkong & Shanghai Banking Corporation, London, Indo-China Steam Navigation Co. Ltd, Hong Kong, Linklaters & Paines, Merchant Navy Officers Pension Fund, Epsom, and others, with related papers, including the following documents:

1. Lists of pensioners of the Indo-China Steam Navigation Co. Ltd.

2. A provisional report by H.R. Sturt to the Directors of the Indo-China Steam Navigation Co. Ltd on the liability for pensions and proposed revision of the company's pension scheme, 29 November 1950.

3. An envelope (loose inside the file) containing booklets of the trust deed and rules of the Merchant Navy Officers Pension Fund, c. 1966, and general information about the Fund, c. 1962 (two copies of each).

4. Three copies of the booklet of the annual report and accounts of the Merchant Navy Officers Pension Fund for the year ended 31 December 1965 (loose inside the file).

5. A circular to Masters of the Indo-China Steam Navigation Co. Ltd, 28 November 1967, enclosing a letter from the company's Chairman, M.A.R. Herries, on proposed changes to the conditions of retirement terms of serving officers, 21 November 1967, with sample tables of the revised pensions based on age, years of service and salary.

The correspondence is comprised of originals and copies of letters to Matheson & Co. Ltd and copies of other letters. The ring-binder is labelled 'Pension Scheme - I.C.S.N.Co. File I'.
