Scope and Contents

Correspondence and papers regarding the acquisition of Corrie, Freeman & Co., wholesale tea and coffee merchants, by Miles & Kitson Ltd and the registration of the firm and its associated companies. The file contains correspondence between Matheson & Co. Ltd, London, and J. Bünting & Co., Leer, S.J.K. Edwards (Manager of Corrie, Freeman & Co.), London, Major Roy Howard, Lower Heswall, and Linklaters & Paines, London, and correspondence between Miles & Kitson Ltd and Martins Bank, National Provincial Bank Ltd and the Registry of Business Names, all London, comprised of original letters to Matheson & Co. Ltd and Miles & Kitson Ltd and copies of letters from the companies. There are also related papers, including the following documents:

1. A copy of the application form of Sanford James Kingsley Edwards to Matheson & Co. Ltd, 7 June 1964.

2. A form of resolutions for the opening of an account of Corrie, Freeman & Co. with Martins Bank Ltd, 10 July 1964.

3. Private circular no. 202 of Matheson & Co. Ltd regarding the acquisition of Corrie, Freeman & Co., 15 July 1964.

4. Many documents regarding the registration of John Bennett & Co. (Tea and Coffee Sales), J. Bünting & Co. (London), Corrie, Freeman & Co., Household Coffee Company and H.S. Smith (Tea and Coffee Sales), including applications for registration and certificates of registration.

5. A booklet containing a price list of Corrie, Freeman & Co.

The ring-binder is labelled 'Corrie Freeman & Co'.
