The correspondents include B.D.F. Beith, London and Shanghai, D.G.M. Bernard, London, W.J. Keswick, Hong Kong and Shanghai, D.F. Landale, Hong Kong, J.J. Paterson, Hong Kong, and A.B. Stewart, Hong Kong. There are also related letters, telegrams and papers, including the following documents:
1. Much correspondence between Matheson & Co. Ltd and the Alliance Assurance Co Ltd, London, Gordon, Woodroffe & Co. (Madras) Ltd, Madras, New Zealand Insurance Co. Ltd, London, Royal Insurance Co. Ltd, Liverpool, and others (including original letters to Matheson & Co. Ltd).
2. A memorandum of action taken by Matheson & Co. Ltd with regard to the Hongkong Fire Insurance Co. Ltd and Canton Insurance Office Ltd, 7 December 1941-30 June 1942.
3. Lists of securities of the Hongkong Fire Insurance Co. Ltd and Canton Insurance Office Ltd as at 1 January 1942 and 1 January 1944.
4. A memorandum of activities of the Hongkong Fire Insurance Co. Ltd and Canton Insurance Office Ltd for the period 1 July 1942 to 31 March 1944, dated London, 26 April 1944.
