Conditions Governing Access
The University Archives are generally freely available to the holder of a reader's ticket for the Manuscripts Reading Room at Cambridge University Library, West Road, Cambridge CB3 9DR. Restrictions on access are imposed on certain categories of sensitive record: financial, governmental and personal, by order of the originating body or under data protection legislation. Biographical / Historical
The first Research Selectivity Exercise was conducted by the University Grants Committee in 1986, and was the precursor to the Research Assessment Exercises (1992-2008) and Research Excellence Framework (from 2014). The exercises have been undertaken approximately every 5 years to evaluate the quality of research undertaken by British higher education institutions, and to allocate funding based on these assessments.
