Market Square, Port Elizabeth, 1865 - 1878
Scope and Contents
138 x 98 mm. Showing long spans of oxen drawn up in the Market Square. On the right is the ‘Diamond Store’ drapery owned by James Fordred, with the smaller premises of William Jones’ ‘Joppa Tannery’ and furniture store beside it. The Terminus Hotel is at the adjacent corner on the Jetty Street side of the square. A small portion of the Post Office (Y3059V/5) can be seen at the extreme left.
