On the ‘Qui Vive’: A cattle and grass cutting guard, 1880 - 1881
Scope and Contents
191 x 140 mm. Showing a group of soldiers and volunteer artillerymen seated on the grass round a small field piece on the hills outside Pretoria. In the foreground are seated Lt. Carden (94th Regt.), Lt. Stanwell (2nd Battalion, 21st Royal Scots Fusiliers) and an unidentified flag signaller. The two distant hills keyed ‘A’ and ‘B’ in the picture have not been identified owing to the fading of the caption.
