A view looking across cleared ground (with a few cattle and an unidentified figure standing beside a camera and tripod in the foreground) towards the main concentration of defensive forces in Pretoria. Various locations keyed and identified in the photograph are: A. The Military Camp (background, right of centre); B. Fort Commeline (at the summit of the distant hills); C. Loretto Nuns, Convent (sandbagged building at right); D. The Tronk (Jail) Laager (at left).
