It was named after the first Chairman of the Uganda Railway Committee, and was the first steam tug in looking, arriving in 1895. After 1903, when construction work in the harbour had eased off, the boat was dismantled and taken to Lake Victoria, where it saw service until 1967, when it was scrapped after 72 years’ service.
