First Church in Entebbe, 1908
Scope and Contents
86 x 80 mm. A view showing the mud and thatch church (the first in Entebbe) before its replacement was completed: '30th November ... Another milestone in the growth of Entebbe is the building of an Anglican church. I laid the foundation stone of it some time ago and the walls are rising rapidly. It is rather surprising that we should have waited so long for this and, when looking at the imposing proportions of the Government House that I am building, I confess that I have felt rather ashamed when I have thought of the miserable little mud-walled, grass-thatched hut that has, for so long, served as our place of worship.' (Bell 1946, page 171).
