My house at Zaria in 1913, 1913
Scope and Contents
100 x 75 mm. Showing the front façade of the Government Lodge at Zaria, occupied by Bell during his period as Governor of Northern Nigeria. The house is described by Bell in a letter as a pleasant building with well-tended gardens, although 'the Engineer afflicted it with a porch of such an absolutely revolting style that I am going to have the offending part pulled down and rebuilt after my own ideas.' (Bell 1911, October 11). Bell's transfer to the Leeward Islands appears to have precluded this plan.
